Wayne Sandberg, Glendale, Arizona
In 1961, the Sandberg family was living in Paradise, California. On a weekend our three kids, Crystal, Bruce and Coral watched a local gymkhanna and came home motivated to compete. Before a year passed the whole family was involved in this new adventure.
While growing up on a ranch, working with horses was an every day necessity. This early experience in horse handling proved to be a distinct help as we expanded our area of competition. By the late 60's Crystal had won the California State Championship in Pole Bending two years and was running pro barrels in the GRA.
Horse Racing was our principal business from the mid 70's to the early 80's. After that, Pole Bending again became our main interest. During the 80's & the 90's we worked with students in Texas, California, Arizona, Washington, Idaho, South Dakota, and Germany. We did clinics, gave private and video lessons, and also wrote three books on Pole Bending.
Invention and innovation seem to be happening all the time at the Sandberg place. We developed a highly innovative Custom Speed Saddle with features found in no other saddle on the market today.

Today, daughter Crystal Logan operates a successful equine facility in Glendale, Arizona, specializing in horse training, boarding, and horsemanship instruction. Son Bruce Sandberg operates the manufacturing end of the business, and is responsible for the high quality of the Sandberg saddles and custom turned stirrups. And Wayne's creative juices continue to flow, as he concentrates on the Sandberg method of pole bending through the written word and one-on-one lessons with select students.
