An 'old basketball knee' was the motivation that led to the creation of the turned stirrup. A year of development and rider testing has proved their worthiness. The base of the stirrup turns out 30 degrees, forming a natural foot position. This ensures comfort and improves rider balance. After verifying the orthopedic value of turned stirrups, we also found basic facts that benefited the rider's overall competitive performance: We are told by barrel racers and pole benders that losing stirrups is not only less frequent but it is also easier to pick them up, if they are lost. Mounting and dismounting is also made easier.
Because of excellent results, we are now offering turned stirrups sized for children.

Polished Turned Stirrups
All stirrups are handmade of 6061aircraft aluminum, .250" thick. We offer a choice of stirrups made to accommodate 2 1/2 and 3 inch width saddle leathers. All have 2 inch width bases and all are fitted with rubber footpads that are easily replaced. All bolts, tubes and acorn nuts are stainless steel to eliminate rusting. We have installed a 1/4" stainless steel pin, horizontally, one inch below the main bolt. This pin will maintain the stirrup in the correct position at all times. The pin replaces the old hobble strap that restricted the flexibility of the stirrup leathers.

Regular and Petite stirrups are furnished with 2 1/2" leathers
or 2" for children, unless 3" is specified.
